Inspiration from Argentina

I recently returned from 3 weeks in South America… Feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and inspired! I thought I would share some photos with you from one of the highlights of the trip- antique hunting in Buenos Aires. I stumbled upon a dealer of antique Argentine textiles … it was love at first sight! The blankets and rugs were all handmade with looms 75 to 100 years ago, a process which would have taken between 2 to 3 months to finish one. Sadly, in Argentina these colorful masterpieces have become a lost art, due to modernization of their manufacturing process. Of course I snatched one up, which is now in my living room! Bottom left, what do you think?

Next up, snapshots of the San Telmo market. Buenos Aires is so rich in both Latin American and European history you never know what your going to find in the hundreds of shops and stalls that are set up every Sunday. If only my suitcase was the size of a cargo container, I could have easily filled it!
