Gem shapes have popping up everywhere and I love it! I’m surrounded by them on a daily basis but am so happy to see them in so many art prints, interiors and inspirational photos lately. Here is a shot of my desk this morning, the mess looks so beautiful I may just leave it there for a while. The best is when an accidental color combination occurs as a result of jewels, gems and stones being strewn about, and a new piece of jewelry is born! xo

My husband and I recently returned from a 2-week vacation in the Bahamas. We rented a beach cottage on Staniel Cay which is one of 365 small islands that form a long chain called The Exumas. If you are like me and prefer to stay as far away from the big resort scene as possible, you should really check out these islands if you can! We cooked our own meals (with a very scarce selection of groceries available) but the tradeoff is being surrounded by hundreds of deserted islands and beaches yours to explore, in the most beautiful water I have ever seen. Fine by me all there is to do is read, swim, snorkel, take the boat out… Can you believe the swimming pigs!? Word has it they were introduced to the island by passing sailors who thought they would become a food source. (Big Major Cay- also deserted) Those sailors never returned and now these porkers thrive off passing boaters that stop in for a swim and feed them their leftover food scraps. They swam out to our boat to greet us and followed us around as long as we kept feeding them! I should add that the the shark I am swimming after is a friendly nurse shark!
In September I attended the wedding of my good friend, Erin Sabiston, owner of Violette Jewelry and Emporia boutique. The sunshine, good vibes, and poolside margaritas were in full effect at the Ace Hotel. Not only was the wedding picture perfect and a total blast, but there was some major Leah Alexandra representing going on… I collaborated with Erin to custom design her wedding jewelry: Pink chalcedony, white druzy, pearl and gold earrings, and a pearl wrapped gold cuff. The bridemaids were all wearing various necklaces and earrings from the Ballet Slippers collection, and the mother of the bride layered two custom necklaces.
